My Long Time WIP

Part of the reason I created this blog is because I have a book I’ve been working on for several years. I’ve had several drafts of this book and have really spent the last several years developing depth to the world and language. A lot of what I have created for this book, will never end up in the book itself. It’s more lore for my own sake.

So I thought, I may as well post some of that lore on here so that it doesn’t simply die in lost word documents over time.

I don’t want to share the name of this long time WIP until I’ve protected my work a bit more. But eventually, as I get closer to publishing, you all will get pieces of it to sample before deciding if its your cup of tea.

I would categorize this book as a dark fantasy focused primarily on the story of the main character. My audience is adults. I have no plans to spare details of the horrors of the world I’ve created. My goal with my writing will always be to make you feel something. Good, bad, and everything in between. I hope it will make you uncomfortable, but also keep you flipping the page.

It will be the first of a series and the world will get bigger as the story progresses. So I feel it is necessary to take my time early on to develop a rich world before I start publishing anything. So I don’t have to go backwards and try to make old details fit into newly created world concepts.

Keep your eyes peeled for lore dumps here and there. If I can make you fall in love with my world before you even read the story, well, my heart would sing with joy.

For any published authors out there, what were some of your rookie mistakes early on? Anything you wish you could have told yourself before you started?
